Cross your fingers...Hope for Life Above the Poverty Line

Albertans are crossing their fingers for social assistance rates to be above the poverty line. More than half of an Albertan's s social assistance income like AISH (Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped)  goes towards shelter, however bank experts say people should only pay 30%. Join us to help raise awareness that social assistance rates need to be tied to a reasonable cost of living and be indexed every year. Send us a photo of yourself, friends, family and cross y your fingers to help us hope for life above the poverty line!

How every dollar on AISH is spent....59 cents on shelter, 22 cents for food, 15 cents for utilities, 4 cents on transportation, 1for all other essentials like clothing. Canadian Bankers suggest only 30% should be spent on shelter.
